Exploring gender equality: our collections as a source of inspiration!

The month of March is all about women and diversity, with International Women’s Day (IWD) on March 8 and Geneva’s Gender Equality Week from March 1 to 10. Their mission is to raise awareness and actively advocate for a more inclusive and gender equitable world.

#inspireinclusion is International Women’s Day’s 2024 theme. An invitation to integrate gender diversity into our actions and thinking, because we know that everything is in motion and that only vigilance can prevent the loss of certain gains while enabling social progress.

And what better way to inspire inclusion than through reading?

Our Gender collection was created in 2003. It is unique in Switzerland, and its strength is its visibility: in addition to dedicated call numbers, documents dealing with a gender perspective are also integrated into all the collections of the Library. The Library invites visitors to browse our collections in the following categories:

  • 305.3 Gender
  • 305.31 Men
  • 305.4 Women
  • 305.42 Feminism
  • 331.4 Women’s work
  • 342.701 Women’s rights
  • 371.822 Education of women
  • 613.99 Women’s health
  • 7.0 DVDs

Finally, don’t forget to take a look at the programme for Equality Week organised by the City of Geneva, on the theme “GENRE ET CLIMAT, MEME COMBAT !” and notice that during this week, a round table will be co-organized by the City of Geneva and the Gender Centre on the theme of “”Agriculture, genre et environnement. Les paysan-ne-x-s suisses aux prises avec des enjeux multiples”
