The theme for this year’s Love Data Week may be surprising. This festival celebrating everything research data is taking place on the same week as Valentine’s Day, as usual (February 10-14). The Geneva Graduate Institute Library is one of the many Swiss organisations who set up online events for the occasion.
Why Love Data Week?
Data is the fundamental component upon which research results are based. You should treat it with love and care so that it can feed and nurture your ideas and reflections. Trade, communication, and the visibility or privacy of marginalised groups also depend on data handling. Share it with the world or keep it safe, but make sure you manage it sustainably or it could turn into an ugly mess!
These are some of the reasons why support staff and researchers offer training and workshops dedicated to Open Research Data (ORD) and Research Data Management (RDM): making sure that the data you collect is (re)usable and that your research is reproducible.
What will the Institute offer during #LDW25?
We will have seven 45-minute online sessions on ORD and RDM.
- Introduction to research data management (Mon 10/02, 12:15-13:00)
- Data management plans for SNSF and ERC projects (Mon 10/02, 13:15-14:00)
- Organising and naming files (Tue 11/02, 12:15-13:00)
- Storing live project data at the Geneva Graduate Institute (Tue 11/02, 13:15-14:00)
- Digital security for social science researchers (Thu 13/02, 12:15-13:00)
- Data de-identification for social scientists (Thu 13/02, 13:15-14:00)
- Sharing your research data on Zenodo (Fri 14/02, 13:15-14:00)
Register now! These are just some of the events taking place this week. Take a look at the programme for Love Data Week Switzerland and the programme for International Love Data Week.
We will also have a display at the entrance of the Library, where you can find titles on data in society, research, and visualisation, and on Thursday 13 (AM, exact time TBD), we will also host our second Data Morning Coffee, an in-person discussion on research data management with researchers from the Institute.
