Slightly more than 10 years after we started collecting games (February 2014), we thought you might want to hear (with some delay) about this academic year’s additions to our collection. But first, a reminder: you can check our full collection of games on BoardGameGeek and borrow them for 7 days (renewable) from the loan desk.
Board games…
- Bloc by Bloc: Uprising is a cooperative game pitting groups of students, union members, and antifa against the police for the control of a fictional city.
- Pax Pamir is a bigger game, centered around Afghan groups attempting to form and preserve an independent state in the 19th century against the empires involved in the Great Game.
- Stonewall Uprising is a 2-player game pitting an LGBT activist against The Man.
- Wingspan is a more peaceful game, in which players try to attract beautiful birds to their wildlife preserve.
We also purchased an African Oware, also known as Awale or Wari, which is available alongside other classics in the Davis Lounge. A new set of chess and backgammon is also available. Finally, we ordered new editions of Dominion and 7 Wonders (as well as the Cities expansion) as replacement for these popular games, and a brand new copy of Pandemic.
… and a puzzle table!

Since our board games are only available for IHEID staff and students, we also decided to install a puzzle table near the entrance of the Library. The next time you visit, take a minute or two to relax and contribute one piece or two to this collective endeavour. The theme for the first 1000-piece puzzle is “Berlin”.
